We fire up the grill at shelters across Miami and serve hot steak dinners to people who almost never get one. A good meal is a way of telling someone they matter.

In Miami, too many of our neighbors go to bed hungry. The food that reaches them is usually whatever is cheapest and easiest to hand out in bulk — and it tells them exactly where they rank.
The Giving Grill does the opposite. We cook steak. We plate it hot, we hand it over ourselves, and we stay and eat with people. It turns a handout into a dinner, and a line into a table.
Every dollar goes to one of two places: buying the steaks, or getting the grill to more nights in more neighborhoods. Nobody here takes a salary.
A steak is not just food. For one night it's proof that somebody thought you were worth the trouble.
